Dr. Mueller has always known that she wanted to be a "doggy doctor" from a very early age (Veterinarian is a hard word to say as a toddler). She was very active in 4-H in her home town of Overbrook KS. Kris and Hailey first met at a 4-H conference in 2007. After graduating from Santa Fe Trail High School, she received a Bachelors in Animal Sciences and Industry with minors in Entrepreneurship and Biology from Kansas State University in 2014. She then graduated Veterinary School at KSU in 2018.
Her career began as a mixed animal veterinarian in South East Kansas right out of school and she soon found a love for the area. House/farm calls became a common request and the essentially birth of the house call/farm call practice.
Favorite local activities are hiking and kayaking at the Elk City lake as well as enjoying some of the wonderful businesses in Independence. Other hobbies include, gardening, running, shotgun sports, and fostering/adopting sight-hounds.
Specific veterinary interests include; geriatric care; orthopedics; medicine and equine as well as small animal dentistry.

Having a knack for business started early for Kris when him and his brother started a mobile DJ business before they could drive. Kris also had a very active 4-H background especially with rabbits, photography and art. Having a knack for business started early for Kris when him and his brother started a mobile DJ business before they could drive. Kris also had a very active 4-H background especially with rabbits, photography and art. Herington , KS is his home town and where he first learned principals of business ownership at the family owner lumber yard.
After graduating from Herington High school, Kris started his higher education at Pittsburg State before transferring to Kansas State and graduating with a degree in Business Management in 2013.
While Dr. Mueller was finishing up vet school, he was a manager at a Vets First Choice, A online veterinary pharmacy company. Since moving to Independence he has enjoyed working as a commercial crop applicator and making connections with area farmers.
Kris enjoys woodworking and home improvement projects, running, lawn care, shotgun sports, and of course greyhounds.
Kris' favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is developing relationships with both people and their pets.

Katie’s furry family members include her dogs Freddie, Anne, and her cat Phoebe! She has experience in small animal practice and is excited to continue to gain more large animal knowledge.

Abby was born and raised in rural Chanute, Kansas, where she grew up on a farm and was an active member in 4-H and FFA. She attended Colby Community College Veterinary Technician Program, graduating in 2022, and shortly after passed her licensing exam. In January 2024, Abby completed a yearlong rotating internship at the Kansas State Uni

In January 2024, Abby completed a yearlong rotating internship at the Kansas State University Veterinary Health Center, where she found her niche for anesthesia and internal medicine cases. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her dog Luna and Carrot her cat.

Courtney has training from Eastern Wyoming College in Veterinary Technology, and has large animal experience. She can be found helping on surgery days, in the office, and out on some calls as well.

Courtney and her husband moved to the area in 2020. They have a Pudelpointer, Gauge, that Courtney and her husband enjoy all types of bird hunting with. Courtney is very partial to Bull terriers and has two, Cora and Reba who keep her on her toes with their quirky personalities. Her daughter, Morgan, is a graduate of Coffeyville High School and currently a Fort Hays State student.

You can also often find her spending time with her kids and grandkids. In the summertime, Christi and her husband can often be found at local lakes on their boat with friends and family.
